Paddy takes home the gold and more...
The second weekend in May we headed to Birmingham for the annual Dwarf Athletic Games 2009. This was our second year so we sort of knew a few people and Paddy got to meet up with some friends he met last year. We arrive to the stadium the first morning for the track and field events and it was a good day sun shining, good moods, good!!!! Paddy did his first race and came in 2nd and the second race he came in third which he was ecstatic about but when the medals were given out he got 2 golds because he was the only boy in his category who competed we didn't realize this at the time because he was racing with 5 other children. Yeah!!! He also came in second in the tennis ball throw and the frisbee throw but again got gold!!! Woohoo!!! If that wasn't enough he was chosen as Sportsman of the Year 2009 and received a trophy to keep for a year and a shield to keep. He was sooooo excited and so were we!!! He did the swimming and came in fourth(it was our first year doing this event). And he came in forth in the indoor curling (don't ask it's to hard to describe). We had a good time. He even danced with a girl but don't tell him I told you...she is his friend and they had a good time together. He also got to meet Eleanor I can't think of her last name...but she went to the Paralympics in China and won a couple of gold medals and upon her return this year she was awarded an MBE from the Queen which is a great honor. She is only 14 years old. It was fun and having Alfred there was a good experience.
PS I will tell you about my trip to America in my nex blog!!!
