Sometimes we make choices in advance. Saying if I were ever faced with this or that choice I would never choose the one that was in the never column. I've learned never say never! You may have to make choices you never thought you would. Some of my choices led me down hard trails and some I made in faith hoping they were right for me. Take each day as it comes. We don't always make the right choices but you live and learn. Some of my best choices gave me the following.....

Potty Training Is Not for the Faint Hearted!!

Right now we are potty training Alfred. Obviously. He seems to get the hang of it when he has no pants on and doesn't have to worry about stripping down. Today was a test to take him out of the house without a diaper/nappie on. We picked Paddy up from school then took him to the tutors in Ramsgate. Alfred was good on the school pickup and then fell asleep on the way to Ramsgate. Frightened is a good word of how I felt when I looked to see the sleeping child. But luckily when he woke 45 minutes later he was dry and we were at Waitrose (a fancy grocery store). I thought about putting a diaper/nappie on him but I thought luck was on my side. Not!! We browsed through the store and bought some candy for them for doing well today and as we were checking out Alfred grabbed my hand and said wee mommy. There was a puddle next to him but he was dry. It went down his leg, got his shoes and socks wet and left a puddle. I quickly exited the place! Embarrassing!! If anyone saw they probably thought scum of the earth mother for leaving. Oh well what to do eh?!
Some of mom adventures can be crazy, boring, loving, surprising, scary and the list goes on...Potty training is a bit of everything!!

Aaron? Sergio?
Could this me my brother?? Hmmmmmm. Lets see!!!

Aaron and Dandi and Crew
Could be?! But sadly the one on the left is Sergio Garcia. He reminds Phil and I of Aaron my brother who also is an excellent golfer. In July Phil got us tickets to go to the 2011 British Open Championship at the Royal St. George's golf course. It was an awesome two days!! I also got to see this guy who I've been a fan of since 1997 when he won the British Open Championship that year. The one and only Justin Leonard.... BEST DAY EVER!! THANKS PHIL!!!

My Day!!
Woke up 6am, tried to read myself back to sleep not working. Almost to sleep at 7am and I hear a noise I know that makes me pretend I am asleep. It's Alfred. Phil doesn't move or he is really good at pretending. Mind you he did work until after one last night. Get up, sort Alfred out with the "babies" cartoon (Looney Toons babies). I sort a drink out for me and Alfred. Then sit down and read to keep me calm before the rush to get up and get everyone moving. 8am I am waking Paddy up for his second day of school and it doesn't take to much. I sort out breakfast cereal and then go to start a load of laundry (it supposed to be a sunny day). Today is Friday no packed lunches for Paddy, I LOVE FRIDAYS!!! Eat breakfast with Alfred and then start to tidy up, check on Paddy to make sure he is moving in the right direction to getting ready. It's time for Paddy to go to school, goodbyes and goodlucks out the door. Breathe for a moment. Tidy up dishes and kitchen. Phil is back and laundry is ready to be put outside. Did I tell you I sometimes loathe putting the laundry out on the line outside. The day is looking good and that is good for laundry. Alfred comes and jumps on trampoline while I'm outside. Trying to potty train Alfred. No diaper (nappie) on but he is doing good so far. Three pees and a pooh and quite a few sweets later. He's doing it!! Take a shower! I love showers! Phil is working upstairs and Alfred is in watching tv again and playing with Cars!! He likes to get them all out even right after you put them away. He wears me out!! We get ready to go to the store. The adventure begins!! We are shopping Alfred wants to get out, then he wants to push the cart, and then decides to go faster. Not good. He decides to run ahead fast and talk loud in the store making car noises. He finds a cubby hole and hides and shouts "You can't find me!" It's ok but he keeps doing this and then he finds an empty shelf and starts to climb on it saying he is hiding. I am worn and have two things left to get. I get a through check out and also managed to bypass the stupid riding toys just outside the door without Alfred looking or asking to go on them. It is after lunch and I am feeling like a bad mother giving Alfred crisps and a bananna to eat on the way home. We almost get home and Alfred is not asleep yet. Decision to take a detour is a good one and he falls asleep. I managed to get him in the house still sleeping, Yeah! Put groceries away and want to sit down Phil phones and I am reminded the other things I have to do to help him for his trip tomorrow. Make phone calls and then start ironing. Get a visit from the father in law. Good excuse to take a break. Alfred wakes up, Grandad leaves, Paddy and Phil come home. The mail arrived with Alfred's new lunch box. Phil and Paddy arrive home. Paddy's day is talked about and then he is having Paddy time with Alfred. Back to ironing and the neighbours Sarah and the girls stop by with eggs. Jumping on trampoline, upstairs, downstairs and good chats. They leave. Finish ironing, start dinner Friday night Pizza night. Phil leaves. Get sorted and have dinner in lounge with kids as a special treat while watching Disney movie Tarabethia? Alfred shower, dishes stacked, things tidy. Shower done dressed and milk given out. My day is coming to an end. Decided to update my blog and that bring me to now. Alfred keeps calling me to fix Lightning McQueen. I think he's tired. So am I!!! Another day done!! I do miss mexican food!! A lot!!! But I am grateful for what I do have!! In the words of my sister Megan!! Peace Out!!
